Answer:

If a tax cut of $12 billion causes real GDP to increase by $36 billion, then the tax multiplier is:________.

b) 3.

Explanation:

The tax multiplier is the effect of tax on aggregate demand, government spending, and industrial investment (GDP).  A tax cut increases the marginal propensity to consume and to save, which in their turns increase the aggregate demand and investments, which are important ingredients in the calculation of a country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  A tax cut also decreases government's ability to spend, which also affects the GDP negatively.  It has been established that to stimulate GDP growth, economies have relied on cutting taxes at some times.

The proportion of the tax cut to the GDP is 12: 36 in this case equals 1 : 3, therefore, the tax multiplier is 3.

Friendly's quick loans, inc., offers you "$4.10 for $5.10 or i knock on your door." this means you get $4.10 today and repay $5.
storchak [24]
If it costs $5.10 to get $4.10 from Friendly's then the loanee would pay about 24% which is a pretty high interest rate and presumably the interest rate would decrease with a higher amount loaned as on a larger amount the actual amount of interest earned would still be significant with a lower interest rate.

djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

Brazil has comparative advantage in Ethanol.

Both US & Ethanol can gain from trade, if they specialise in their good of comparative advantage & import the other at lower opportunity cost.

Explanation:

Comparative advantage is when an economy can produce a good with lesser opportunity cost than other economy.

Brazil can produce ethanol at lower opportunity cost, as it uses lesser resources to produce Ethanol, compared to US.

So, Brazil has comparative advantage in producing ethanol. Both US & Brazil can gain from specialisation : As, US can get more ethanol at lesser than domestic opportunity cost. And, Brazil can also gain from trade by importing the good in which US has better opportunity cost & comparative advantage, in exchange of exported ethanol. It would imply Brazil would get more of the other good at lesser than domestic opportunity cost.
