An appeal to<em> logos</em> is one which uses logical arguments in order to persuade the reader of an opinion. In this case, President Obama is providing logical arguments as evidence for his claim. He argues that unity is vital to the country because a single person cannot accomplish everything that is necessary for a society to function and thrive.
Persevering is being used as a verb. verbs are action words, to persevere is an action. noun is a person place or thing, adjectives describe nouns or other adjectives, adverbs describe a verb.
