1/2 = x / 50
cross multiply because this is a proportion
(2)(x) = (1)(50)
2x = 50
x = 50/2
x = 25 <==

and if u will notice, 1/2 and 25/50 are equivalent fractions...and that is what proportions are....nothing but equivalent fractions
