Which themes are you most likely to encounter in a modernist poem?

English
1 answer:
-BARSIC- [3]3 years ago

The answer is the difficulty of determining what is real. Typical modernists had a loss of meaning in the modern world, so there themes included the question of "What is real?" There was a search for meaning in a world without God, and a search for self with a critique of traditional values.

Which sentences in these excerpts reflect the idea that war affects not only the minds of the combatants but also their physical
seropon [69]
In O'Brien's excerpt those sentences are: In a way, it seemed, he was part of the morning fog, or my own imagination, but there was also the reality of what was happening in my stomach. This sentence evokes a bodily reaction and calls it "the reality". It is not just imagined; it really happens. I tried to swallow whatever was rising from my stomach, which tasted like lemonade, something fruity and sour. It's as if his body has its own way of processing the distressing information. He feels a very specific kind of nausea, triggered by his mental processes.

In Steinbeck's excerpt it's these sentences: In all kinds of combat the whole body is battered by emotion. The ductless glands pour their fluids into the system to make it able to stand up to the great demand on it. They describe a very physical reaction, which is a product of emotional distress. It's as if the body is trying to defend the whole system from detrimental factors.

What is the argument for the possibility that Plato may have made up the story of Atlantis?
Tamiku [17]

Answer: The sunken city of Atlantis has never been found, and many critics assume that Plato invented the story of Atlantis to warn people what might happen if they continue with their habits.

Explanation:

Atlantis is a lost city which was first mentioned in Plato's dialogues, around 360 B.C.

Many critics assume that Plato created the whole story of Atlantis, to support his philosophical theories. In his work, Plato often included the elements such as utopian societies, corruption, human habits, etc. Therefore, Atlantis could be interpreted as his attempt to warn people of the gods' punishment for their habits. This theory is supported by the fact that there are no records of the existence of Atlantis apart from Plato's dialogues. Moreover, no trace of the sunken city has ever been found by the oceanographers.

svp [43]

The consequence of this mistake was Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was able to give a tough fight to Nagina and defeat her.

Explanation:

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a short story written by Rudyard Kipling. The story is about a young mongoose, who combats with Nag and his wife, Nagina and defeat them successfully.

In the story, when Rikki-Tikki-Tavi asks Darzee for help, Darzee, being too feather-brained hesitate to do it. Darzee's wife knew that Nag's eggs would mean more snakes in the garden, so she quickly flung herself before Nagina feigning her injury on the wings. Though it was a mistake by Darzee's wife but it helped Rikki-Tikki-Tavi to defeat the snake family.
