Atticus’ statement “ Jem’s definitions are very nearly accurate sometimes” (28) is meant to create what tone?

English

Answer:

The statement on the part of Atticus that "Jem's definitions are very nearly accurate sometimes" is meant to set a playful tone because earlier Jem had said that entailment meant getting your tail stuck in a crack.

Explanation:

The word entailment is significant in this part of the story because it means that Mr. Cunningham could not just sell his property to get cash and pay his debts. He might have a farm, but he does not have to right to sell it a large part of it and dispose of the money as he wishes.  Therefore Walter and his father are poor, and kind of "stuck in a crack" when it comes to affording to take a lunch to school like Miss Caroline expects.

lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

The primordial instinct for self-preservation prevents people's actions.

Explanation:

"Primordial instinct for self-preservation" is the term that refers to our impulse to protect ourselves from situations that put us at risk. This risk may not be a physical risk, but an emotional risk such as feeling discomfort, shame and nervousness. This self-preservation prevents us from exercising some actions and this impediment is often beneficial, but there are several situations where this impediment is disadvantageous, because it prevents us from doing good things for us, such as making new friends, introducing ourselves, starting an activity that we always wanted, experiment, among others.

Who had to fight wars against the French and the Americans to gain its independence
Karolina [17]
<span>The answer is Vietnam.  After the Japanese were defeated in 1945, communist movement called the Viet Minh led by Ho Chi Minh began a campaign for independence From France.  In 1946, Vietnamese guerillas began to fight the French in the First Indochina War. They defeated the French at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu and won their Independence in 1954.  This lead to the emergence of two Vietnams:  The communist North and the democratic South.  North began to invade the South which led to U.S. intervention. Despite modern artillery and air support, the U.S. was not able to defeat the North and later withdrew its forces from Vietnam and later the country was united under rule of the communist.  Today Vietnam has changed much of its policies and has now welcome foreign investments and capitalist entrepreneurs to do business in the country.
