Mendel proposed the law on segregation, observing the fact that real breeding pea plants with contrasting features gave birth to F1 generations which all expressed the dominant feature and F2generations which expressed dominant and recessive features in a 3:1 ratio.
The segregationlaw states that a pair of alleles (copy) is present for a particular characteristic of every individual who is diploid. Every parent passes a diploid organism randomly to their offspring. The allele with the superior traits decides the descendants ' phenotype. Essentially, the law stipulates that copies of genes be identical or similar and require only a single allele for each gamete.
