Answer:

Research is the process by which you look for the solution to a problem or the answer to something that we don't know systematically. In this sense, research is the fruit of the curiosity of the human being, of the need to know and explain nature.

The importance of research is that this has been a key instrument for the progress of humanity.

We need to keep in mind that research is not limited to science, all areas of knowledge are subject to constant research. In this way progress is achieved. Thus we have that in economics, education, law, and even in art, research stimulating the development of the professional heritage.

Knowledge expansion

We investigate to know more. The greatest usefulness of research can be said to be the production of new knowledge about the existing one. Knowledge, then, is dynamic and growing.

Imagine that since 1900 no research had been conducted, how would we live in the 21st century? We would still ride carts, infant mortality would be huge, we would die from tuberculosis and measles, we wouldn't have television, much less the Internet.

Know the truth

Doubt and disagreement are the great promoters of many investigations. The knowledge of the truth, of how nature works, of how to explain our reality is largely a product of researchers dedicated to satisfying their questions.

From the investigations of Lynn Margullis (1938-2011) the endosymbiotic theory could be established as the origin of eukaryotic cells. She showed evidence that prokaryotic organisms established symbiotic relationships and from there arose eukaryotic algae and plants.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element of the sun and other stars. This fact was discovered by Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin (1900-1979) in her astronomical investigations.

Improve Life Quality

Electricity is essential in our daily routines. Less than 300 years ago it was a phenomenon unknown to the majority of the population. Starting with Benjamin Franklin's famous lightning and comet experience, through the invention of Thomas Edison's focus and the creation of electric generators, it is unthinkable to be able to live in our modern societies without electricity.

Which of these statements is false?
Alika [10]

I'm going to guess that it's the second option, "New matter only enters the biosphere in the form of precipitation" because it bothers me that the writer said "new matter" and everything else seemed right to me. The last two are definitely true. I'm a bit iffy about the first option because I know that autotrophs take the energy from the sun, then primary consumers eat them and then everything eats one another afterwards. So everything moves from the bottom of the food pyramid up. There are decomposers which take dead matter from any trophic level and bring it up, which, I guess, is still in the same direction on the food pyramid. New matter can probably enter the biosphere in other ways like a meteor hitting the earth or something. The water from precipitation never left the biosphere, so that's where it's wrong. I hope this helps.

Under typical cellular conditions, which enzyme does not catalyze an irreversible reaction in glycolysis?
harina [27]

Phosphoglycerate kinase does not catalyze an irreversible process in glycolysis under normal cellular circumstances.

Discussion about glycolysis:

  • Ten stages make up the glycolysis process, seven of which are reversible and three of which are practically irreversible. These are the first, third, and final stages that are successively catalyzed by hexokinase, phosphofructokinase, and pyruvate kinase.
  • During the glycolysis process, glucose 6-phosphate is changed into pyruvate. Everything that happens is cytoplasmic. Fructose 6-phosphate is created by reversible isomerization of glucose 6-phosphate. Physiologically irreversible fructose 6-phosphate phosphorylation to fructose 1,6-bisphosphate is performed by phosphofructokinase.

Hexokinase, phosphofructokinase-1, and pyruvate kinase conduct nearly irreversible events during glycolysis, hence one would anticipate that these enzymes have both regulatory and catalytic functions.

So, option d i.e., phosphoglycerate kinase should be the appropriate response.
