There are four nickels, three dimes, and three quarters in your pocket. You randomly pick three coins and place them on a counte

r. The first coin is a nickel, the second is a dime, and the third is a quarter. Find the probability of this occurring.

Total coins = 10 ( 4 + 3 + 3 = 10).

The probability of picking a nickel first = 4/10 = 2/5 ( 4 nickels out of 10 total).

The probability of picking a dime second = 3/9 = 1/3 ( 3 dimes out of 9 coins left).

The probability of picking the third coin as a quarter = 3/8 ( 3 quarters out of 8 coins left).

The probability of picking all three in that order = 2/5 x 1/3 x 3/8 = 1/20

SOMEOne PLS EXPLAIN VERTICAL ASYMPTOTES TO ME IM DYING- i need to know how u get the asymptote(explanation) and answer T^TTTTTTT
Kitty [74]
A vertical asymptote is what you get when you try to divide by 0. To find where you get these, you need to look at the denominator and what values of x will make the denominator equal to 0.

In your denominator, you have (x+7)(x-5)(x-3).
What values of x makes (x+7)(x-5)(x-3)=0?
If x = -7, if x = 5, or if x = 3, then that entire expression will equal zero. (Same idea as when you solve equations by factoring.

Now the only place this can get trickier is if one of those factors — one of (x+7), (x-5), or (x-3) — also appears in the numerator. If that happens, then it’s more involved whether you have an asymptote or not. But that doesn’t happen in this example.

So the short version: Asymptotes happen when you try to divide by zero. Dividing by zero is not a good thing. So you just ask yourself, “What will make the denominator 0?”

Expressed
as a
decimal, 3% is
A
0.03
B
0.3
3.0
D
30.0
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

0.03

Step-by-step explanation:

3% as a fraction is 3/100. as a decimal it is 0.03. notice when you read the decimal aloud, it is three one-hundredths, which is also the same read aloud in a fraction.

PRACTICE ANOTHER The administration of a large university wants to take a random sample to measure student opinion of a new food
Reil [10]

Answer:

81 samples

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the empirical rule :

Possible values of the sample mean is within 3 standard deviations of the population mean :

μ ± 3 sd(x) ; sd(x) = standard deviation of sampling distribution.

3 * sd(x) = 1

sd(x) = 1/3

Recall:

Standard deviation of sampling distribution, sd(x)

sd(x) = σ / sqrt(n)

1/3 = 3 / sqrt(n)

Square both sides

1/9 = 9/n

Cross multiply :

n * 1 = 9 * 9

n = 81

Help please! I do not exactly understand how to do this. Thanks!
Radda [10]

X and Y are supplementary, that means X + Y = 180.

But we have, X = Y +24, then

X + Y = Y + 24 + Y = 2Y + 24 = 180

Then

2Y = 156

Y = 78

Then X = 78 + 24 = 102.
