Answer:

D: 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x mph be the rate of the faster jogger

Therefore (x-2) mph is the rate of the slower jogger

After 3 hours faster jogger will be 3x miles from the starting point

Whereas after the 3 hours slower jogger will be 3(x-2) miles from the starting point but in the opposite direction.

Since they are 30 miles apart 3x+3(x-2)=30

3x+3x-6=30

⇒ 3x+3x=30 +6

⇒ 6x=36

⇒ x=6

Therefore the rate of the faster jogger = 6 mph

andreev551 [17]

Answer:

  • y=0.8x
  • See Explanation for others

Step-by-step explanation:

The 3 cans of beans had a total weight of 2.4 Pounds

Therefore:

  • 1 can of beans = (2.4 ÷ 3) =0.8 Pounds

The following applies from the options.

  • y=0.8x where y is the weight and x is the number of cans.
  • A 2-column table with 3 rows. Column 1 is labeled number of cans with entries 5, 15, 20. Column 2 is labeled total weight (in pounds) with entries 4, 12, 16.

Using y=0.8x

When x=5, y=0.8 X 5=4

When x=15, y=0.8 X 15=12

When x=20, y=0.8 X 20=16

\left|\begin{array}{c|c}\text{Number of Cans,x}&\text{Total Weight (in Pounds),y}\\-------&--------\\5&4\\15&12\\20&16\end{array}\right|

  • On a coordinate plane, the x-axis is labeled number of cans and the y-axis is labeled total weight (in pounds. A line goes through points (5, 4) and (15, 12). This can be clearly seen from the table above as (5,4) and (15,12) are points on the line.

Find the height of the triangle
Paul [167]
There are two -main- approaches to answer this problem. By using the sine identity, or applying law of sines.

We'll do the sine trig. identity, as it is the most effective.

Given an angle '\alpha' in a right triangle, 'sin( \alpha )' is defined as the opposite side of the triangle to the given angle, over the triangle's hypotenuse.

So, for this setup:
sin(20)= \frac{x}{10}

Now, we solve for x:
x=10sin(20)=3.42

So, answer is 3.4

Answer:

2.50000 or 2.5 or 2 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

You have the number 250,000. you have to get the decimal between 1.00 and 10.00 to do this we are going to move the decimal over left one at a time.

25,000.0

2,500.00

250.000

25.0000 25 is really close but not between 1 and 10 so were going to move the decimal one more time

2.50000

2.50000 is between 1 and 10 so its the anwser we are looking for.

mezya [45]

Given

Three numbers are n, 8n, and (100+n).

Their total is 690.

Find

the three numbers

Solution

n + 8n + (n+100) = 690

10n + 100 = 690 . . . . . . . simplify

10n = 590 . . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 100

n = 59

8n = 472

n +100 = 159

The three numbers are 59, 472, and 159.

c. Using a standard deck of 52 cards, the probability of selecting a 4 of diamonds or a 4 of hearts is an example of a mutually
dybincka [34]

Answer:

True

Step-by-step explanation:

If two events X and Y are mutually exclusive,

Then,

P(X∪Y) = P(X) + P(Y)

Let A represents the event of a diamond card and B represent the event of a heart card,

We know that,

In a deck of 52 cards there are 4 suit ( 13 Club cards, 13 heart cards, 13 diamond cards and 13 Spade cards )

That is, those cards which are heart can not be diamond card,

⇒ A ∩ B = ∅

⇒ P(A∩B) = 0

Since, P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)

⇒ P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B)

By the above statement,

Events A and B are mutually exclusive,

Hence, the probability of selecting a 4 of diamonds or a 4 of hearts is an example of a mutually exclusive event is a true statement.
