In the story they explain what he wears, how the place looks like and their emotions. Then they add conflict with Shestakov and how he trys to test and trick the main character by offering him an escape. They also show the consequences of what happen to others for wanting more and not appreciating what they already have. Since the protagonist refused the offer and went for something more secure, and he lived.
