A Republican would criticize or not agree with most forms of Entitlement Programs. The most important examples of Entitlements Program are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment compensation and food stamps.

A Republican would argue that giving people free money in any form of benefits robs them of their will to work and to support themselves. Having their basic needs provided ( paid ) for by third parties ( the state ) people become lazy and don't want to seek employment nor educate themselves to advance in the labor market. All these programs also drain the country financial resources creating deficits in the budget. A Republican would always welcome a situation where the individuals are encouraged to support themselves versus being support by any form of financial or material help. They would only justify the Entitlements Programs when absolutely necessary, for example during a recession or after a war.
