John Harvard was an English pastor who has donated greatly to the college during the time when the college needed it the most, which is why Harvard is named after him.

Elihu Yale was a merchant who donated greatly to Yale college, renamed in his honour.

It was originated in the Massachusetts Bay Colony and is one of the earliest colleges in the U.S. Elihu Yale is a Welsh a Welsh trader who began Yale university in 1701. He gave property and money to this school and his school is also one of the earliest schools in the U.S.
