Answer: A) A witness to a crime doesn't know whether she should tell the

truth.

Explanation: in literature, a conflict is a struggle between opposite forces, usually between a character (the main character or a very important one) and himself (internal conflict), society or another character (external conflict). From the given options, the one that represents a clear example of an internal conflict, is the corresponding to option A, because the decision of whether or not tell the true, is something that the witness should make on her own.

What is the most likely reason that Bacon calls the desire for great place “strange” (sentence 3)? A. Those who seek great place
Andreas93 [3]

Answer:

B. Those who seek great place sacrifice as much as they gain.

Explanation:

For Bacon, the search for the great place is an extremely strange desire, since the great place does not promote perks, but sacrifices so difficult to carry that they often cause men to lose their ways and their goals. He affirmed that upon arriving at the great place, man becomes more servant than he has ever been, they lose their freedoms and wills and often end up losing themselves, even being corrupted.

Which statement is a theme of "the yellow paper"?
babymother [125]

Charlotte Perkins Gilman was a prominent social critic and feminist writer in the United States of the period from the 1890s through the 1930s. In The Yellow Wallpaper, originally published in 1899, she presents the internal dialogue of a woman diagnosed with hysteria and for whom total rest has been prescribed. In the short fiction, the patient is slowly driven mad by her cure, cut off from any intellectual pursuits whatsoever.

Though The Yellow Wallpaper is a work of fiction, it was based on Gilman's own experience after being diagnosed as an hysteric and prescribed a "rest cure" which prohibited her writing and labelled her feminism and social critique as symptoms of uterine illness. Gilman recovered from her "cure," and went on to write influential social theses, including Women and Economics (1898), and a feminist utopian novel, Herland (1915), which has become a classic of American women's literature.
