From Venn diagram, we can see that

4 own both car and truck.

15 own car exclusively.

9 own truck exclusively.

So now there are 36 people in total so that would be 36 - 15 - 4 - 9 = 8 people who do not own anything

So far we have
4    9   _
15  8   _
_    _   _

Now we just need to fill in remaining blanks

We know that there are 4 + 9 = 13 people who owns truck regardless of car

Also there are 15 + 8 = 23 people who does not own trucks regardless of car

Now 13 + 23 = 36 so math checks.

Now for car, we can see that there are 4 + 15 = 19 people who owns car regardless of trucks

Now there are 9 + 8 = 17 people who does not own car regardless of trucks.

19 + 17 = 36 so math checks again.

So table should look like this:

4     9    13
15   8    23
19   17  36

Suppose j varies jointly with g and v, and j=1 when g=6 and v=3.
Alex_Xolod [135]
"Joint variation<span>" means "directly, but with two or more variables". Thus, we write as follows:

j </span>α gv
<span>
We insert proportionality constant k, to change it to equality.

j = kgv

We solve k,

1 = k (4)(3)
k =1/12

j = gv/12
j = 8(11)/12
j = 22/3</span>

You are a running a concession stand selling hot dogs and sodas each hot dog costs .75 cents and each soda costs $1.25. You sold
tatiyna
<span>Each hot dog costs $ 1.50 and each soda costs $ .50. You made a total of $ 78.50. You sold a total of 87 hot dogs and sodas combined. You must report the number of hot dogs and soda's sold. How many hot dogs and soda's were sold?

Quantity Equation: h + s = 87
Value Equation:: 1.5h+0.5s=78.50

Multiply thru the Quantity Equation by 15
Multiply thru the Value Equation by 10.

15h + 15s = 15*87
15h + 5s = 785</span>Subtract and solve for "s":<span>10s = 520
</span>s = 52 (# of soda's sold)
<span>
Solve for h:
h + s = 87
h + 52 = 87
h = 35 (# of hot dog's sold)</span>
