2. The senior class is having a fundraiser to help pay for the senior trip. Selling a box of chocolates yields a profit of $2.45

, while selling a box of cookies yields a profit of $2.70. The demand for cookies is at least twice that of chocolates, but the amount of cookies produced must be no more than 550 boxes plus 3 times the number of chocolates produced. Assuming that the senior class can sell every box that they order, how many boxes of each should they order to maximize profit if they cannot order more than 1950 boxes combined?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

350 chocolate     1599 of cookies

Step-by-step explanation:

c= box of chocolates

k=box of coockies

k< 550+3c , so   k-3c<550

 k+c< 1950

 k-3c<550

I will multiply  the second by 3

k -  3c <  550

3k +3c <  5850

ADD BOTH

4k  <  6400

k  <   1600    Cookies should be less than 1600

Since cookies yield more than chocolates , to maximize profit they need to sell the maximum amount of cookies they can

1599 +350= 1949  (less than 1950)

The amount of cookies produced must be no more than 550 boxes plus 3 times the number of chocolates produced.

1599< 3(350) +550= 1050+550=1600)

1599<1600

1599 is at least double of 350 (it could be more than double)

Without trade, jake consumes 20 pounds of green beans and 80 punds pf corn and jane consumes 40 pounds of green beans and 40 pou
Oksanka [162]

solution:

Terms of trade (TOT) = 1 pound green beans for 3 pound corn.

So, when Jake sells 72 pounds of corn, he buys (72 / 3) = 24 pounds of green beans, which is sold by Jane.

After specialization, Jane produces 80 pounds of green beans and sells 24 pounds out of it.

So, Jane consumes (80 - 24) = 56 pounds of green beans herself.

Also, after specialization, Jane produces only green beans and no corn, so her consumption of corn is equal to the quantity of corn sold by Jake, i.e. 72 pounds.

So, Jane consumes 56 pounds of green beans and 72 pounds of corn.
