How does the use of third-person omniscient point of view affect the story and the reader?

Third-person omniscient is used to allow the omniscient, or all knowing, narrator to show readers what multiple characters are thinking. This provides the advantage of being able to switch between multiple characters' perspectives. The reader can then interact and relate to multiple characters, and the story can be more depthful.

Alex

Answer:

It was approaching 3 pm, and I went to the first (but probably the worst) person near me. Kaleb Danner. Kaleb is the type of kid everyone knows for good and bad reasons. He used to be a model kid, good grades, extremely polite, and always put others before himself on every occasion. Sadly, due to his parental neglect, he began to sink into the deep dark abyss of living out this "hood mentality." I still love him as a brother because of his invaluable advice of navigating almost every aspect of high school even though we were the same age.
