Denmark Vesey wanted to lead a slave revolt that would bring about the freedom of many African Americans in 1822. However, his luck would run out when an enslaved African American told the authorities about the puported plot. This led to Denmark Vesey being arrested with 34 enslaved people and being executed to serve as a warning.
