Use the rule: SOHCAHTOA

In this case,
x = opposite angle, becuase it is opposite the angle given.
The given angle is the longest, meaning it is the Hypotenuse
With this information, we can determine what rule we could apply. Since we have opposite and hypotenuse given, we can use S = O/H.

Given that there is an angle involved we would have to adapt our rule a little bit. So in more simplier form, we will have to use the inverse sign rule. Before working this equation out, you need to identify each given information.
Thus,
X = O
14 = H
∡60 = θ (delta)
Using the equation;
60° = x/14
Making x the subject, because we need to fine it's value.
x = sin ⁻¹(14/60°)
x = 0.24u (U standing for Units)
Ok you should check my working again, because I feel this is incorrect. I must have missed something, or used something incorrectly. Please recheck my answer, there may be a fault.

The mean weight of an adult is 69 kilograms with a variance of 121. If 31 adults are randomly selected, what is the probability
amid [387]

Answer:

0.2236 = 22.36% probability that the sample mean would be greater than 70.5 kilograms.

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this question, we need to understand the normal probability distribution and the central limit theorem.

Also, important to remember that the standard deviation is the square root of the variance.

Normal probability distribution:

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

Central limit theorem:

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sample means with size n of at least 30 can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 69, \sigma = \sqrt{121} = 11, n = 31, s = \frac{11}{\sqrt{31}} = 1.97565

What is the probability that the sample mean would be greater than 70.5 kilograms?

This is 1 subtracted by the pvalue of Z when X = 70.5. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

By the Central limit theorem

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{s}

Z = \frac{70.5 - 69}{1.97565}

Z = 0.76

Z = 0.76 has a pvalue of 0.7764

1 - 0.7764 = 0.2236

0.2236 = 22.36% probability that the sample mean would be greater than 70.5 kilograms.

You could set up a ratio given that it is a 5% solution (5% of the total, not 5% of water.

5/100 = x/473 You need to find out how much is vinegar. Cross multiply
5 * 473 = 100 x  Find the number on the left.
2365 = 100 x Divide by 100
2365 / 100 = x
x = 23.65 mL of vinegar.
The water is found by subtraction
473 - 23.65 = 449.35 mL of water.

Identify the vertex, focus, and directrix of the graph. Which of the following equations represents the parabola in the graph?
antoniya [11.8K]

Answer:

Equation: (x-2)^2=16(y-2)

Vertex: (2,2)

Directrix: y=-2

Focus: (2,6)

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Standard Form of Vertical Parabola:</u>

  • Equation -> (x-h)^2=4p(y-k) where p\neq 0
  • Vertex -> (h,k)
  • Directrix -> y=k-p
  • Focus -> (h,k+p)

We know that our vertex is (h,k) -> (2,2), therefore, we can determine the value of p by selecting a point from the parabola as (x,y):

(x-h)^2=4p(y-k)

(x-2)^2=4p(y-2)

(6-2)^2=4p(3-2)

(4)^2=4p(1)

16=4p

4=p

<u>Therefore:</u>

  • Directrix -> y=k-p -> y=2-4 -> y=-2
  • Focus -> (h,k+p) -> (2,2+4) -> (2,6)

<u>Conclusion:</u>

  • Equation -> (x-2)^2=16(y-2)
  • Vertex -> (2,2)
  • Directrix -> y=-2
  • Focus -> (2,6)
