Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:   f(x) =   (2/3)*x -3   -- which is not a provided answer..

Discussion:

We are given that y + 7 = (2/3) * (x + 6). Multiply out the right hand side:

y + 7 = (2/3) * x + (2/3) * 6 = (2/3) *x + 12/3

        =   (2/3)*x + 4

Subtract 7 from both sides:

y + 7 - 7 = (2/3)*x + 4 - 7

or

y =  (2/3)*x -3

Thank you,

MrB

y + 7= 2/3(x+6)

Which formulas can be used to find the surface area of a right prism where p is the perimeter of the base, h is the height of th
svp [43]
Let
ba--------> area of bases (<span>the two bases included</span>)
p---------> perimeter of the base
h--------> height of the prism
la-------> lateral area

we know that

[surface area]=2*[area of one base]+[perimeter of the base]*height
so
2*[area of one base]=ba
[surface area]=[ba]+[p]*h

and
the formula of lateral area is
[la]=[perimeter of the base]*height
[la]=[p]*h
therefore
[surface area]=[ba]+[la]

the answer is
[surface area]=[ba]+[p]*h
[surface area]=[ba]+[la]

Find dy/dx. if y = 8u - 6 and u = 3x - 8.
Dmitriy789 [7]

Use the chain rule:

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm du}\dfrac{\mathrm du}{\mathrm dx}

We have

y=8u-6\implies\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm du}=8

u=3x-8\implies\dfrac{\mathrm du}{\mathrm dx}=3

so we get

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=8\cdot3=\boxed{24}

Alternatively, you can substitute <em>u</em> in the definition of <em>y</em> and differentiate with respect to <em>x</em> :

y=8u-6=8(3x-8)=24x-64\implies\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=24

Bella needs to paint a logo made using two right triangles. The dimensions of the logo are shown below. What is the area of the
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

It would be 28.5. First, you would find the area of the smaller triangle by using the formula a=.5bh (area=.5xbasexheight) and then when you get that, you should get 6. Then, you do the same for the larger triangle and you should get 22.5. Then, 22.5 + 6 = 28.5, giving you that answer.
