Answer:

See attached

Step-by-step explanation:

In the questions, find the equation of the dash line then apply the appropriate inequality sign.

In the first one, take points (-3,2) and (0,1) find the gradient and slope of the line.

slope of line, m=Δy/Δx

Δy=1-2=-1

Δx= 0--3=3

m= -1/3

Finding the equation of the line;

y-1/x-0 = -1/3

3y-3 =-x

3y=-x+3

y=-1/3 x+1

The inequality can be ;

y> -1/3 x +1 or y<-1/3 x +1  depending on the shaded region as attached

In 2.

You have two graphs that provide the solution of the inequality.

In the graph represented by line 1, where you have points (-3,-4) and (-5,-5)

The slope will be,

m=-5--4/-5--3

m=-5+4/-5+3

m=-1/-2 = 1/2

The equation will be;

y--4/x--3= 1/2

y+4/x+3= 1/2

2y+8=x+3

2y=x+3-8

2y=x-5

y=1/2x -2.5

In the line with points (-3,-4) and (1,-6)

m=-6--4/1--3

m=-6+4/1+3

m=-2/4 = -1/2

Finding the equation of the line

y--4/x--3 = -1/2

2(y+4) = -1 (x+3)

2y+8 =-x-3

2y=-x-3-8

2y=-x-11

y= -1/2x-5.5

The inequality can be ;

y>1/2x + 2.5

y> -1/2x -5.5

or

y< 1/2 x +2.5

y< -1/2x-5.5

Depending on the area shaded as show in the attached graphs

Snow Dome Ski Resort has 65 inches of snow. It is currently snowing there at a rate of 1 inch per hour. Mt. Winterpark Ski Resor
34kurt

Answer:

a) Equation for Snow Dome Ski Resort:

I_s = 65+t

Equation for Mt. Winterpark Ski Resort:

I_m = 74+\frac{t}{2}

b) After 19 hours, Snow dome will have more snow.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Initial snow at Snow Dome Ski Resort = 65 inches

Snowing rate at Snow Dome Ski Resort = 1 inch per hour

Initial snow at Mt. Winterpark Ski Resort = 74 inches

Initial snow at Mt. Winterpark Ski Resort = \frac{1}{2} inch per hour

a) To write equations that show amount of snow at each resort.

Let the time in hours be represented by t.

Snow increased in t hours by snowing at Snow Dome Ski Resort = 1\times t = t inches per hour

Snow increased in t hours by snowing at Mt. Winterpark Ski Resort = \frac{1}{2}\times t = \frac{t}{2} inches per hour

Equation for Snow Dome Ski Resort:

I_s = 65+t

Equation for Mt. Winterpark Ski Resort:

I_m = 74+\frac{t}{2}

b) Time at which Snow Dome has more snow.

Using the above equations, we can write the following inequality:

65+t>74+\dfrac{t}{2}\\\Rightarrow t-\dfrac{t}{2}>74-65\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{t}{2}>9\\\Rightarrow t>18\ hours

After 18 hours have passed, they will have equal amount of snow.

After 19 hours, Snow dome will have more snow.

The equation

w=112+8t

means that you choose a value for the input variable t, and you compute the correspondent value for the output variable w.

So, if the input is t = 176, the output will be

w=112+8\cdot 176 = 112+1408 = 1520

Similarly, the ordered pair (4, 144) means that if you choose 4 as input, you get 144 as output, in fact you have

w=112+8\cdot 4= 112+32= 144

Which parent function is represented by the graph?
jeyben [28]

Answer:

D. An exponential parent function

Step-by-step explanation:

The basic parent function of any exponential function is f(x) = bx, where b is the base. Using the x and y values from this table, you simply plot the coordinates to get the graphs. The parent graph of any exponential function crosses the y-axis at (0, 1), because anything raised to the 0 power is always 1.

Carl wants to plant a garden that is 1 1/2 yards long and has an area of 3 1/2 yd.² how wide should the Garden be
lesya692 [45]
L= length= 1 1/2 yards
A= area= 3 1/2 yards^2
w= width

Area= length * width
plug in numbers you know
3 1/2= (1 1/2)(w)
convert to improper fractions
(3*2+1)/2= ((1*2+1)/2)(w)
7/2= 3/2w
divide both sides by 3/2
7/2 ÷ 3/2= w
to divide fractions, multiply by the reciprocal/inverse of 3/2
7/2 * 2/3= w
(7*2)/(2*3)= w
14/6= w
reduce by 2
7/3= width as improper fraction
OR
2 1/3= width as mixed fraction

ANSWER: The width should be 2 1/3 yards wide (or 7/3 yards wide).

Hope this helps! :)
