6 0

The correct option will be : B) 6 cm.

Explanation

Suppose, the width of the rectangle is x cm.

As, the length is 6 cm longer than the width, so the length will be: (x+6) cm.

Formula for the Area of rectangle is: (Length)*(Width)

Given that, the area of a rectangle is 72 cm²

So....

x(x+6)=72\\ \\ x^2+6x-72=0\\ \\ (x+12)(x-6)=0

Using zero-product property, we will get...

x+12=0\\ x= -12 (Negative value is ignored as width can't be negative)

and

x-6=0\\ x=6

So, the width of the rectangle is 6 cm.

Worker A finishes the job in 10 hours; worker B finishes it in 12 hours, and worker C finishes it in 15 hours.
nika2105 [10]
A=1/10, b=1/12, c=1/15 (these are the rates for each worker...)

1.)

2(1/10)+4(1/12)+t/15=1

1/5+1/3+t/15=1

(3+5+t)/15=1

3+5+t=15

8+t=15

t=7

So it would take c 7 hours to finish the job.

2.)

1/40-1/60

(3-2)/120

1/120

The drain rate is 1/60. So you will need to find t when the tank is empty, while starting at 2/3 capacity...

2/3-t/60=0

(40-t)/60=0

40-t=0

t=40

It would take 40 minutes to empty the tank when it is 2/3 full.

X + 8y = 18 and — 5x + 3y = -4
atroni [7]
X+8y=18
-5x+3y=-4

Multiply the first equation by 5
Add the two equations together

5x+40y=90
-5x+3y=-4
43y=86
Y=2

Plug y into one equation to find x
X+16=18
X=2

Which statement is true? Question 2 options: All parallelograms are rectangles. All rectangles are squares. All quadrilaterals a
alekssr [168]

For this case, we have that:

 • By definition, a rectangle is a parallelogram. So, we discard the first option.
 • On the other hand, we have that all rectangles can not be squares, since a square has all its sides equal, while the rectangle, poir definition, no.So, we discard the second option.
 • All quadrilaterals are not rectangles because there are other figures with four sides that are not necessarily rectangular. We discard the third option.
 • Finally, we have that all squares are rectangles. This statement is true since squares can be rectangles with pairs of equal sides.
