Imperialism and Nationalism often relates. Nationalism refers to when a state gives liberty to its nationals. Whereas, Imperialists were colonists and they believed to expand their territory. Both the ideologies believe that they need to expand their territories because everyone needs to benefit from their expertise.  

Explanation:

Nationalists are those people who believe that people acquire their land from imperialists. They have their liberty back, their homeland and their natural resources back.

Whereas, imperialists believe that they need to expand their boundaries because their views are what can help a nation prosper.
