The reason immigrants had to take low-paying industrial jobs in the late 1880s was that they <u>did </u><u>not </u><u>have the </u><u>skills </u><u>needed for </u><u>better jobs</u>.

The immigrants that came in the late 1880s:

  • Were mostly from Eastern and Central parts of Europe
  • Were not very skilled

As a result, these immigrants had to look for jobs that required them having little skills and these jobs were usually lower paying and in factories.

In conclusion, immigrants in the 1880s took low paying jobs because that was all they were qualified for.
