So what need to do is find the slope. The equation for that is Y=mx+b. well thats the equation listed in your question, just its put a little different that the original format. Lets rearrange your stated equation ( We are allow to rearrange it however we want, but only on the right side of the equal sign, because its addition and will come out just the same.)

So lets change it to Y=173x+576. That is your slpe. whatever value you enter for X, it will get multiplied by 173, then add 576. So in year 2000 (x value) the equation would be,
Y=173(2000)+576
Now, anytime you have a number with a x, y, z or any letter or a input value, such as 390x, when you enter the value for x it is multiplied. which is the same as putting it in parenthesis, 390(x) is that same as 390x.
So lets multiply
Y=346,000 + 576
Y=346,576
Now plug in x=2001
Y=173(2001) + 576
Y=346,173 + 576
Y=346,749

Seems to me that every year the college is gaining 173 students. So as x goes over 1, y goes up one making the slope 1 over 173, or 1/173

There is a 173 increase in the student population per year after the college was opened.

2. A set of data consists of the number of years that applicants for foreign service
Bad White [126]

Answer:

Kindly check explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the regression equation :

y = 31.6 + 10.9x

x = the number of years of study ;

y = the grade on the test.

The predicted is y which is also the same as the response variable, hence, the response variable is grade on the test

The predictor variable is x, which is the independent variable, which is the number of years of study.

From. The regression output given ;

The slope which is the Coefficient of the predictor variable is 10.9 which means that for every unit change in number of years of study, the grade on test increases by 10.9

The intercept which is the constant value, 31.6, means, the least a person can get in the get in grade is 31.6 (at x = 0)

Answer:

<h3><em><u>x=8.4</u></em></h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

(2x)^{2} +12.6^{2} =21^{2} \\\\4x^{2} +158.76=441\\\\4x^{2}441-158.76\\\\4x^{2} =282.24\\\\x^{2}  =70.56\\\\x=8.4

Hisako sells dolls at her doll store. If she sells a doll for $35, and there is 6% sales tax, what is the tax amount a customer
Sloan [31]

Given:

The price of a doll = $35

Sales tax = 6%

To find:

The tax amount that a customer will pay on one doll.

Solution:

The price of doll is $35 and the sales tax is 6%, so the tax amount on a doll is 6% of 35.

\text{Tax amount}=35\times \dfrac{6}{100}

\text{Tax amount}=\dfrac{210}{100}

\text{Tax amount}=\dfrac{21}{10}

\text{Tax amount}=2.1

Therefore, the tax amount that a customer will pay on one doll is $2.1.
