Two kinds of crated cargo, A and B, are to be shipped by truck. Each crate of cargo A is 50 cubic feet in volume and weighs 200

pounds, whereas each crate of cargoB is 10 cubic feet in volume and weighs 360 pounds. The shipping company charges $75 per crate for cargo A and $100 per crate for cargo B. The truck has a maximum load limit of 7200 pounds and 1000 cubic feet. Write a system of inequalities that represent the constraints in this problem.
a. 50a+10b> 7200; 200a+360b> 1000; a> 0; b>0
b. 50a+10b<1000; 200a+360b < 7200; a> 0; b>0
c. 50a+10b7200; 200a +360b < 1000; a s 0; b< 0
d. 50a+ 10b> 1000; 200a+360b> 7200; a s 0; b<0

Answer:

The correct answer is option b)

50a+10b<1000; 200a+360b < 7200; a> 0; b>0

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Two kind of crated cargo namely A and B to be shipped by truck.

<u>Cargo A:</u>

Volume of each crate of cargo A = 50 cubic ft

Weight of each crate of cargo A = 200 pounds

Let number of crates of cargo A to be shipped = a

Total volume of 'a' crates of cargo A = 50a cubic ft

Total weight of 'a' crates of cargo A = 200a pounds

<u>Cargo B:</u>

Volume of each crate of cargo B = 10 cubic ft

Weight of each crate of cargo B = 360 pounds

Let number of crates of cargo B to be shipped = b

Total volume of 'b' crates of cargo B = 10b cubic ft

Total weight of 'b' crates of cargo B = 360b

Total volume allowed in the truck is 1000 cubic ft

Total volume of 'a' crates of Cargo A and Total volume of 'b' crates of Cargo B = 50a+10b cubic ft (This sum should be less than volume of truck so that it can fit in the truck)

So, the inequality becomes

50a+10b ....... (1)

Total weight allowed (load limit) in the truck is 7200 pounds

Total weight of 'a' crates of Cargo A and Total weight of 'b' crates of Cargo B = 200a+360b cubic ft (This sum should be less than volume of truck so that it can fit in the truck)

So, the inequality becomes

200a+360b ....... (1)

And number of crates of cargo A and B are always a positive number.

So, a > 0 and b > 0.

So, the correct answer is option b.

<em>b. 50a+10b<1000; 200a+360b < 7200; a> 0; b>0</em>

Amanda wants to make a rectangular fenced area for her dogs. She wants the area to be 32 square feet with the length of the yard
navik [9.2K]
The fence is a 8x4 fence as they multiply up to 32 square feet and 8 is double 4. If you add 8+8+4+4 you will get 24. Then you multiply the perimeter (24) by 3 to get the final cost. This means that the final cost will be $72.00.

A parallelogram has a 70 degree angle and sides 6 cm and 10 cm long. How long are its diagonals?
Verdich [7]
Let the shorter diagonal be x, then
x^2 = 6^2 + 10^2 - 2 x 6 x 10 x cos 70 = 36 + 100 - 120 cos 70 = 136 - 41.04 = 94.96
x = sqrt(94.96) = 9.7 cm

The other angle of the parallelogram is 1/2(360 - 2(70)) = 1/2(360 - 140) = 1/2(220) = 110
Let the longer diagonal be y, then
y^2 = 6^2 + 10^2 - 2 x 6 x 10 x cos 110 = 36 + 100 - 120 cos 110 = 136 + 41.04 = 177.04
y = sqrt(177.04) = 13.3 cm.

Therefore, the length of the diagonals are 9.7 cm and 13.3 cm.

mr. devito was ordering pencils for apl fourth grade students. There are 118 fourth graders. Pencils come in packs of 6. He need
sweet [91]

Answer:

Mr. devito needs to buy 40 packs

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total number of fourth grade students = 118

The number of pencils in one pack = 6

The number pencil each student gets   =2

To find:

The number of packs of pencils that is to be bought  = ?

Solution:

To give all the 118 fourth grade students each 2 pencils , the total number of pencils needed will be

= >  118 \times 2

=>  236 Pencils

We know that a pack contains 6 pencils, so the number of pack that has to be bought , in order to have 236 pencils will be

=> \frac{ \text{total number of pencils}}{\text{ number of pencils per pack }}

On substituting the values

=> \frac{236}{6}

=> 39.33

=> 40
