The Social Security Act of 1935 sought to provide Americans, many of whom had been hit hard economically in the Great Depression, with a sense of well-being and hope for the future. It sought to fight against the perils of unemployment, old age, and losing one's spouse. The act still accomplishes this goal to this very day.

During the American Revolution, the British government hired German troops, called "Hessians," to assist them in battling Americ
frez [133]

Since the 1770s, the term "Hessian" has been used to refer to all German troops serving in British service in North America, regardless of where they came from. This is due to the fact that the majority of soldiers were supplied by the territories of Hessen-Kassel and Hessen-Hanau.

In the American Revolution, why did the Hessians support the British?

According to Baer, the Hessians were what we refer to as "auxiliary forces. "They were not individual soldiers who joined Britain for financial gain. They were troops that were raised by their respective German rulers, who then made a contract with Britain to rent out complete military units with their own commanders.

In the course of the Revolutionary War, what role did the Hessian soldiers play?

Although German troops are best known for their service in the northern theater, they played significant roles in numerous battles. Leopold Philip de Heister's Hessians crushed the American lines at White Plains until they fell. At Post Washington, Hessians under Wilhelm von Knyphausen overran the American protectors.

what proof does president reagan provide in his speech of the failure of communism and the success of democracy?
Marina CMI [18]

The story of this discourse was revealed in an article written by historian Paul Kengor in Crisis magazine. The author recalls that Tony Dolan, the main author of Reagan's speeches, was a devout Catholic who knew Fatima well. Dolan confirmed to Kengor that the President, although not Catholic, was aware of the phenomenon.

“He knew about Fatima. Fatima was an important part of the anti-communist movement. The Fatima movement was something he would have known, and besides, he had a very strong mystical strand. ”

So Dolan included the phrase in the speech: “I knew he would like it and would use it. I was sure. It was very cheeky. ”

Why did Frederick Douglass devote his time into Women's Rights?
Scilla [17]

Explanation:

Frederick Douglass believing that “Right is of no sex, truth is of no color,” Douglass urged an immediate end to slavery and supported Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and other women’s rights activists in their crusade for woman suffrage. in july of 1848, M’Clintock invited Douglass to attend the First Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY. Douglass readily accepted, and his participation at the convention revealed his commitment to woman suffrage. shortly after the convention, Douglass wrote,

"In respect to political rights, we hold woman to be justly entitled to all we claim for man. We go farther, and express our conviction that all political rights which it is expedient for man to exercise, it is equally so for women. All that distinguishes man as an intelligent and accountable being, is equally true of woman; and if that government is only just which governs by the free consent of the governed, there can be no reason in the world for denying to woman the exercise of the elective franchise, or a hand in making and administering the laws of the land. Our doctrine is, that “Right is of no sex.”"

Lisa [10]
It rests with the states

It is a responsibility of the states to organize elections either for presidents or for those in the congress and it is their duty to ensure that the elections go smoothly and without any affairs or cheating. The states vary in how they conduct the elections, but most do it under the same pattern while following rules found in the constitution.
