Hello from MrBillDoesMath:

Answer:   - (19/5) or  -3 4/5

Steps:

           3 1/6  =    3 + 1/6   =   18/6 + 1/6  = 19/6

         -  1 1/5   =   - ( 1 + 1/5) = - (5/5 + 1/5 )  =  -6/5

          So  3 1/6 * (- 1 1/5) =  19/6 * (-6/5) = - 19/5 as the "6"'s cancel.

Regards, MrB.

- \frac{19}{5}

change the mixed numbers to improper fraction

3 \frac{1}{6} = \frac{19}{6} and 1 \frac{1}{5} = \frac{6}{5}

\frac{19}{6} × - \frac{6}{5} ( cancel the 6's )

=-  \frac{19}{5}
