Find the limit. (If an answer does not exist, enter DNE.) lim Δx→0 (x + Δx)2 − 3(x + Δx) + 2 − (x2 − 3x + 2) Δx
yawa3891 [41]

\displaystyle\lim_{\Delta x\to0}\frac{(x+\Delta x)^2-3(x+\Delta x)+2-(x^2-3x+2)}{\Delta x}

Expand the numerator as

x^2+2x\Delta x+(\Delta x)^2-3x-3\Delta x+2-x^2+3x-2=(2x-3)\Delta x+(\Delta x)^2

Then in the limit,

\displaystyle\lim_{\Delta x\to0}\frac{(2x-3)\Delta x+(\Delta x)^2}{\Delta x}=\lim_{\Delta x\to0}(2x-3+\Delta x)=\boxed{2x-3}

It takes Billy fifteen minutes to complete 1/8 of a recipe. At this rate go long will it take for him to complete the recipe
vichka [17]

well, a WHOLE is 1, in this case is 8/8, that'd be a whole.

so Billy does 1/8 in 15 minutes, well, there are 8/8, so do the whole recipe that'd be 8 * 15 minutes, or 120 minutes, or 2 hours.

or you can see it this way, 1/8 is 15 minutes, since there are eight 1/8's, then it'd take 15+15+15+15+15+15+15+15 minutes.

If a concrete mix contains 1-1/2 cubic feet of gravel, 1/2 cubic foot of water,
Karolina [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is "50%".

Step-by-step explanation:

The given values are:

Gravel,

= (1-\frac{1}{2} )

Water,

= \frac{1}{2}

Cement,

= 1

Sand,

= 2

Now,

The total mixture will be:

= Gravel+Water+Cement+Sand

By substituting the values, we get

= (1-\frac{1}{2} )+\frac{1}{2} +1+2

= \frac{1}{2} +\frac{1}{2} +1+2

= 4 \ cubic \ feet

hence,

The percentage of sand will be:

= \frac{Sand}{Total}\times 100

= \frac{2}{4}\times 100

= 50%
