Why was the compromise of 1850 needed
marishachu [46]

Answer:

The Compromise of 1850 was made to stop the disputes over slavery in new territories added to the United States in the wake of the Mexican-American War. It admitted California as a free state, left Utah and New Mexico to decide for themselves whether to be a slave state or a free state, defined a new Texas-New Mexico boundary, and made it easier for slave owners to recover runways under the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.

Alex73 [517]

The U.S.s stepped up efforts to prevent the expansion of communism in the world.  Apart from that they continue to maintain bases in South Korea in case the North would once again launch an attack.  The Korean war also saw the integration of African Americans into the army, meaning there were no segregated troops during this war.
