Answer:

30 kg/m2

Explanation:

The body mass index (BMI) is a simple indicator of the relationship between weight and height (height) that is frequently used to identify overweight and obesity in adults. It is calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilos by the square of their height in meters (kg / m2). For example, a person who weighs 60 kg and is 1.60 m tall has a BMI = 23.4 (60 / 1.60 = 60 / 2.56 = 23.4).

According to the World Health Organization:

A BMI equal to or greater than 25 determines overweight.

A BMI equal to or greater than 30 determines obesity.

But in addition to weight, the place where fat accumulates matters. In men, abdominal distribution is more frequent and in women at hip level.

Abdominal distribution of fat is associated with increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure and is assessed by measuring the waist circumference. A waist circumference greater than 88 cm in women and 102 cm in men is considered risky.

Q2 – Ao2 [4 marks]<br> Explain the benefit of an increase in capillary-isation to a hockey player.
vovangra [49]

Answer:

An increase in capillaries helps to increase healing by improving blood flow to the site of injury. Improving blood flow provides muscles with an increase in oxygen that gives muscle energy and so reduces muscle fatigue and weakness. An improvement in blood flow also supplies muscles with an increase in nutrients.

Diffusion, the most widely-used mechanism, allows the flow of small molecules across capillaries such as glucose and oxygen from the blood into the tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissue into the blood.
