living organisms use osmoregulation to balance solute and water concentrations in their cells, tissues and organs. Many marine o

rganisms have internal solute concentrations that are similar to their environment. However, this is not typically true of freshwater and terrestrial organisms. What is likely to happen to the cells of a marine plant if placed in a freshwater environment? A) The cells will become flaccid. b. The cells will undergo plasmolysis. c. The cells will swell and become turgid. d. There will be no obvious change in the plant cells.

there will be a more negative water potential in the marine organism, so by osmosis the water will move into the cells from the fresh water, causing swelling.

The cells will swell and become turgid.

Plants found in marine environments are adapted for osmoregulation in hypertonic environments. If you place this kind of plant in freshwater, that will be hypotonic environment and the plant will swell and become turgid.

Waters high heat protects organisms in ocean from what
Alja [10]

Answer:

Water's high specific heat allows it to absorb a large amount of heat without changing much in temperature, keeping a relatively constant temperature in oceans and lakes which is beneficial to marine life. If water did not have a high specific heat, then it would increase in temperature very quickly and oceans and lakes would have drastic changes in temperature in very short periods of time. This could harm or kill the organisms living in them.

Approximately what percentage of the human genome is composed of repetitive sequences?
Arturiano [62]
Approximately 50% of human genome is composed of repetitive sequences. It contains approximately 3 billion of these base pairs that reside with 23 pairs of chromosome within the nucleus or our cells or called nucleotides. Genes in the genomes of invertebrates such as Drosophila is not like the human genes because the human genes contain more and larger introns than the genes in the genomes. The human genes are larger than the genes in the genomes. The genome sequence is ~99.9% similar in individuals of all nationalities. Complete set of deoxyribonucleic acid of a single cell of an organism or sequence for humans (Homo sapiens) is called Genome. It includes both protein-coding deoxyribonucleic acid genes and noncoding deoxyribonucleic acid.

Imagine a prometaphase chromosome pair that is attached to one spindle pole. Which of the following would happen if both arms of
harina [27]

Answer: the correct answer is C) The kinetochore-containing fragment would be pulled toward the pole. The two arm fragments would move away from the pole

Explanation:

A kinetochore is a disc-shaped protein structure linked with duplicated chromatids in eukaryotic cells where the spindle fibers link during cell division to pull sister chromatids apart. The kinetochore assembles on the centromere and links the chromosome to microtubule polymers from the mitotic spindle during mitosis and meiosis. Its proteins also help to hold the sister chromatids together and play a role in chromosome editing.
