Religious Freedom was vital because it ensured that the British Government's wrongdoings would not be replicated. Christian religious organisations were powerful in the British colonies, and they were the ones who sought to impose strict religious observance through colony governments and local towns. Roger Williams, Richard Allen, Lucrettia Mott, Sojourner Truth, Sitting Bull, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. were among those who struggled for religious freedom. It's the first amendment, and even though most people are helpless to defend themselves when their right is challenged, that shouldn't be the case, so if you believe in anything and anyone else doesn't, you shouldn't hate them for it; instead, you should uphold your religion and what you believe in, rather than hating them back. Simply because of the various religious views, etc.
