Yes, I agree with Wendell Berry's quote because knowing where you come from gives you an idea of what things you should pursue in life. For example, if you grew up in a poverty-stricken society where education is deemed unimportant, this will allow you to focus on having a good education in the future. This will become your inspiration to pursue greater things in life in order to advance your situation. Another example is, having a beautiful talent in dancing might lead you to a dance career in the future. If you know you've got the guts ever since you were young, then you exactly know what you want in the future. You know where you are heading.

Im assuming you have read the book already that its talking about. So what you need to do in the second part is describe how the item affected the character. Like cause and effect. How did the rash effect him? After you do that make sure you say where you got the evidence from. Then the 3rd step explains itself. Write a paragraph on how the items affect their perspective. Hopefully this helps guide you because I dont have the time to read the full book. Just follow those guidelines
