Yes, I agree with Wendell Berry's quote because knowing where you come from gives you an idea of what things you should pursue in life. For example, if you grew up in a poverty-stricken society where education is deemed unimportant, this will allow you to focus on having a good education in the future. Another example is, having a beautiful talent in dancing might lead you to a dance career in the future. If you know you've got the guts ever since you were young, then you exactly know what you want in the future. You know where you are heading.
