All right, in the case o the Chinese civilization. The factors that contributed to the establishment of organized communities that later would become settlements, were: Writing, this is very important because learning is one of the most prominent elements from the chinse civilization. Also, the building to honor their gods was a very important factor because they were a certain civilization that believed with deep roots. They keep doing it, though. But the major factor was the organized government. Because it allowed them to create amazing different clans/cultures since the beginning of their existence in east Asia. It was so good that when the Mongols conquered them, they preserved it, unifying China for centuries.

They were told to undress for a shower and then led into a chamber with fake shower heads. After the doors were closed, cyanide gas poured from the shower heads. All inside were killed in a matter of minutes.
