He was 18 years old because he was born in 1989 and the film came out at 2007,
so 2007-1989 = 18

But you could also say that ghosts are not real and so there is no such thing as a ghost hunter. But he is technically a real ghost hunter because he thinks he is hunting ghosts, much like a someone working on curing cancer is still a cancer cure specialist even though there is no such thing as a cure for cancer.
