In regards to movement, muscles are able to produce movement because their fibers originate usually at a bony structure, above the structure to be moved, and insert themselves on the insertion point of the structure that can be moved. The force of the fibers to produce motion happens when the fibers, under neural stimulation, begin to collect, or pull themselves from their insertion point towards their origin, bringing with them the structure that has to be moved.
