Americans were against the heavy taxes imposed by the British Government and they craved for the representation in the parliament so that their say can be heard. But this was totally not acknowledged by the British Imperial rule.

Americans resorted to drink the Dutch’s tea which was cheap when compared to the imported tea by the British to its colonists. Due to the less demand of the English tea, East India Company was facing monetary loss as it was considered to be the major source of income to the British.

Due to less demand tons of tea leaves started to lose its shelf life and began to rot in the go-downs of Britain. The colonists were forced to purchase the tea directly from the company and this annoyed the colonial merchants and local traders who were at loss of their business.

The Native Americans came in the guise of English men boarded the ships at Boston Anchorage and toppled the huge loads of tea into the ocean causing a huge damage to the property. This protest was the first exposed act of opposition against the English Imperial Rule. Colonial resistance continued for three years and then began the historic American Revolution.

Why did the ancient city-state of Athens and Sparta develop different political systems?
sergij07 [2.7K]

The mountainous topography of the Greek peninsula resulted in the isolation of these two city-states.

Athens developed a system that valued philosophy and active political involvement by its citizens in an early form of democracy. (Note that it wasn't full democracy as we'd think of it today, as those who had a political voice were free men, not women or slaves.)

Sparta developed a militaristic system that valued physical training and military service, as well as a strict loyalty to the state.
