I'm unsure about the arrangement of marriages, although I know that dowries were not required. Spartan boys were educated in the agoge beginning at age 7, so their mothers would not have taught them after that age. Women had great influence in politics, but they did not vote in assembly.

Examples of redemptive movements are fundamentalist religious movements and cults. In some religions, there is an emphasis on being “born again”. This state implies that a complete individual transformation or a radical inner change is expected from the person. Perhaps the best example would be the spread of Christianity all over the world through the work of missionaries.
