<u><em>The spirit of laws was written by Baron de Montesquieu. It is a treatise on political theory</em></u><u><em>.</em></u> It was translated into different languages after its publication. Montesquieu had researched for twenty years before writing  this book and covered the topics of <em>law, anthropology and social life</em>. In Spirit of laws he argued that political institutions should reflect the geographical and social aspects of the community and society. He suggested for the constitutional system of government which should have separation of powers. He told that this type of government should preserve legality and end slavery. <u><em>The influence of Montesquieu's ideas can be seen in the democratic value of US constitution as it follows the principle of Separation of powers. The US constitution divides the power into three branches of government; Judiciary, Executive and Legislative. </em></u>
