Answer:

Transcription

Explanation:

Transcription is the first process of gene expression involving the synthesis of a mRNA molecule from a segment of DNA (gene). Transcription is key to the production of proteins, which bring about biochemical activities, in every living organism. The process of transcription is catalyzed by an enzyme called RNA polymerase.

According to the question that describes a chemical found to be produced by a tropical tree that kills insects. The chemical is discovered to deactivate RNA polymerase enzyme in the insect. This utterly means the chemical is interfering with the process of transcription of genes in the insect because transcription cannot occur without RNA polymerase.

What happens to both the hare and lynx populations as the years advance
dmitriy555 [2]
The large Lynx population will kill more hares so the hare population decreases. This will also cause the hare population to decrease. The population sizes for the lynx and hare fluctuate every few years. Neither population gets too big as the predator and the prey keep each population in balance

Modified from Critical Thinking Question 1 (page 49): Lipoprotein particles are relatively large clumps of protein and lipid mol
Marta_Voda [28]

Answer:

The subject of lipoproteins, how they are structured, the reason for such a structure, and their function, is a pretty compex, but unique one.

Essentially, these lipoproteins have the task of transporting substances, especially fats (fatty acids, triglycerides and cholesterol), that cannot simply float around freely in the bloodstream due to their non-polarity, from the tissues and organs that process them, to those that use them for their various tasks. Lipoproteins, thus are known as transport proteins composed of spherical, or globular units of proteins (known as apoproteins), esthered cholesterol and phospholipids, that surround the lipid cargo and protect it from the watery surroundings in blood plasma.

The fact of any of these units to be, or not be, exposed to the watery composition of blood, in plasma, comes explained by whether they are water soluble, and their polarity. As such, the answer to each of these components in the question, would be:

a) Cholesterol: sheltered from the blood by the lipoprotein carrier. The only exception is when the cholesterol unit has been re-estherized, which happens in the liver.

b) Fatty acids: also sheltered and carried by lipoproteins, especially when they are taken in through the diet. They are transported within chylomycrons.

c) Triglycerides: also sheltered from plasma, carried by lipoproteins and released into muscle tissue and adipose tissue for use.

d) Phospholipids: They are components of the lipoprotein, essential since their two external layers are hydrophilic and not hydrophobic. They form, with apoproteins, the protective covering for lipids.

e) Proteins: they are not sheltered, they are part of the lipoprotein covering the lipids, and therefore are not insoluble in water.

Tay-Sachs disease is caused by a mutation in the HEXA gene located on chromosome 15. Tay-Sachs follows an autosomal recessive pa
NemiM [27]

The unaffected carrier individual, is the one who has only mutated gene of the autosomal recessive disease.

The right answer is B and C individuals

The genes responsible for autosomal recessive (AR) transmitted diseases are localized on autosomes.

The mutated allele responsible for the disease is recessive on the wild allele; heterozygotes are healthy and the disease is expressed only in homozygotes.

Tay-Sachs disease is a neurodegenerative disease caused by a deficiency of hexosaminidase causing an accumulation of ganglioside GM2.

Organisms are classified as eukaryotes or prokaryotes based on their basic body structure. Which of the following is true of org
Len [333]

Question 9: The right answer is B (the second one)

The two major types of cellular, prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms.

* Prokaryotes are identified with bacteria: most live as single-cell organisms but some bacteria associate in a chain. Prokaryotes have their DNA in the cytoplasm of the cell.

* Eukaryotes have a nucleus, a compartment separated from the rest of the cellular contents, which contains the DNA.

Question 17: The right answer is incomplete dominance.

Incomplete-dominated genetic action is a type of genetic action where one of the alleles outweighs the other in the production of qualitative phenotypes, without the dominant allele completely overshadowing the heterozygous recessive allele. Two copies of the dominant allele are required to produce the dominant phenotype. Since the recessive allele can perform its function at the heterozygous stage, this genotype produces a phenotype (the heterozygous phenotype) which differs little from the dominant phenotype.

In our case the phenomenon of incomplete dominance gave a pink color (between white and crimson) instead of crimson color when the white flowering plant was mixed with the crimson flower plant.

Question 19: The right answer is Speciation occurs gradually.

Speciation is a term that means the formation of new species.

Gradualism is an evolutionary theory according to which new species occur by gradual transformation of ancestral species, by evolution.

These transformations are slow and regular. Otherwise expressed: evolutionary theory according to which speciation is gradually effected by small successive changes over long periods.
