Asexual reproduction is one that occurs through mitotic processes, or through fission or excision. In this type of reproduction the new individual is genetically identical to the "mother".
Reproduction by the metotic process occurs when a single cell divides continuously until it forms a complete individual. Reproduction by fission or excision occurs when the one parent cell is divided into two individual, but equal cells.
