if you're solving for x,

start by isolating x squared to get

x^2 = 16 (we added 8 to both sides)

then square root each side:

sqrt of x^2 = x; sqrt of 16 = 4.

we end up with x = 4 (positive and neg)

if you're factoring

minus 8 from both sides to get

x^2 - 16

from there we can factor to get

(x + 4)(x - 4)

Now, subtract 42 form 44 which is 2. Bring down the 2, you get 22. 7 goes into 22 3 times, subtract 21 from 22. One. So your answer is 63 remainder one!

jonny [76]

Answer:

m + 30 ; $36

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Total fruits needed = 15

Fruits needed :

Apple (m) ; cost = $3 per piece

Oranges (o) ; cost = $2 per piece

Amount spent on fruits :

[(cost of apple * number of apples) + (cost of orange *(total fruits - number of apples)]

3m + 2(15 - m)

3m + 30 - 2m

3m - 2m + 30

m + 30

Amount spent if 6 apples is purchased :

m = 6

m + 30

6 + 30 = $36
