simplify left side by collecting like terms

2.9x - 8.1 = 6.9 + 1.1x ( subtract 1.1x from both sides )

1.8x - 8.1 = 6.9 ( add 8.1 to both sides )

1.8x = 15 ( multiply both sides by 10 )

18x = 150 ( divide both sides by 18 )

x = \frac{150}{18} = \frac{25}{3}
