x^2 =144 has 2 solutions

x=sqrt(144)

x=+-12

x= 12 and x=-12

12*12 = 144 and (-12) * (-12) = 144

a square root has 1 positive and 1 negative solution

x^3 = 27

(x^3)^(1/3)=(27)^(1/3)         ^(1/3)  is the cube root

x = 3

it only has one solution because a negative * a negative * a negative would be negative
