In the absence of glucose and the presence of lactose, where is the lac repressor bound?

Biology

Answer:

The lac repressor is not bound to the operon.

Explanation:

The lac repressor is a protein encoded by the lac I gene. In absence of lactose, the lac repressor binds to the operator sequence of the lac operon and does not allow the RNA polymerase to express the operon. However, as lactose enters the cell from the medium, the beta-galactosidase enzyme converts it into allolactose which in turn serves as an inducer of the lac operon. Binding of allolactose to lac repressor trigger conformational changes in the protein and renders it unable to bind to the operator. The RNA polymerase is allowed to express the operon.

Muscle tissues are characterized by the presence of elongated cells, often called ____________ , that can contract to create mov
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

1. Muscle Fibers

2. Bones

3. Joints

Explanation:

Muscle tissue is made of muscle fibers. The plasma membrane of a muscle fiber is called sarcolemma while its cytoplasm is known as sarcoplasm. Muscle cells are characterized by the presence of specialized endoplasmic reticulum which is called sarcoplasmic reticulum.

Muscle cells exhibit contractility and extensibility. The ability of muscle cells to shorten their length forcibly in response to a stimulus is their contractility. Muscle fibers have the ability to extend and shorten themselves.

Extension and contraction of muscle fibers are responsible for the movement of the human body and its parts.

Muscles are attached to bones via tendons which in turn are the fibrous connective tissues. Muscles are also part of our joints where they assist in the movement by pulling the bones as well as stabilize and strengthen the joints.

miv72 [106K]

The correct statement is that the concentration of acetylcholine will be inhibited by enzymes and can cause several diseases as follows:

 • Alzheimer's disease-related to damage to brain cells,
 • memory loss,
 • and thinking ability.

How to reduce the symptoms of these diseases is to use drugs that contain cholinesterase inhibitors.

Further Explanation

Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that plays an important role in the functioning of the autonomic nervous system. Acetylcholine is one of the most commonly recognized neurotransmitters or nerve stimulating chemicals. These neurotransmitter compounds can be found in the nervous system.

There are several side effects of the acetylcholine drug, which are as follows:

 • Can cause a lot of sweat
 • Excessive salivation
 • Stomach ache
 • Headache
 • Blood vessel dilation
 • Nausea and vomiting
 • Diarrhea is a sign of an increase in parasympathetic tone.
