Describe the proportion method for solving a percentage problem:
kvasek [131]

EXPLANATION

First you will need TWO numbers. One being the percentage and the other being the number your trying to find the percent out of.

EXAMPLE

Imagine you have 130 crayons. Out of the 130 crayons you found that 15% of them were broken.

First you want too take the 15% and put it over 100, because a percentage always goes over 100. Now that you have the 15/100 you now wanna take the 130 crayons and put the variable X over it. Now that you have the fractions 15/100 and X/130 you want to cross multiply them to get 100x and 1950. For the final step your going to want to take 1950 and divide it by 100 to get your answer, 19.5.

I hope this helped you find out the method for solving a percentage problem while using proportions.

What is the area of the figure?

40 ft2
84 ft2
96 ft2
can't be determined
maxonik [38]
80 ft^2 Looking at the figure, you can easily determine that it's made of two separate figures, a rectangle that's 2 feet by 16 feet, and a triangle that has sides of 16 feet, 10 feet, and 10 feet. The triangle can then be divided into two right triangles with a hypotenuse of 10 feet and one leg of 8 feet, so you can use the Pythagorean theorem to calculate the other leg (which is also the height of the large triangle mentioned above). That value is sqrt(10^2 - 8^2) = sqrt(100 - 64) = sqrt(36) = 6. So we now know that the large 16,10,10 triangle has a base of 16 and a height of 6. So let's calculate the area of the entire figure. A = 2*16 + 16*6/2 A = 32 + 16*3 A = 32 + 48 A = 80 So the area of the entire figure is 80 square feet.

Can somebody help me with these problems please
mario62 [17]

Answer:

11. A. \frac{12}{13}

12. D. \frac{35}{12}

Step-by-step explanation:

11: Sin is just the side opposite of the angle divided by the hypotenuse of the triangle

Opposite of A = 36

Hypotenuse of the triangle = 39

36/39 = \frac{12}{13}

12. Tan is the side opposite of the angle divided by the side adjacent to the angle

Opposite of C = 35

Adjacent to C = 12

35/12 = \frac{35}{12}

Hope this helps!
