The box office took in a total of $2905 in paid admissions for the high-school musical. Adult tickets cost $8 each, and student

tickets cost $3 each. If 560 people attended the show, how many were students? Let s = the number of students attending, and let a = the number of adults attending. Which two equations can be used to solve this problem? Select the two that apply.

There are no equations to choose from but it should look like the following.

a= # of adult tickets
s= # of student tickets

QUANTITY EQUATION
a + s= 560

COST EQUATION
$8a + $3s= $2905

***If you have to also solve for the number of adults and students, here are the steps.

STEP 1:
multiply quantity equation by -8

-8(a + s)= -8(560)
-8a - 8s= -4480

STEP 2:
add cost equation and step 1 equation

$8a + $3s= $2905
-8a - 8s= -4480
a term cancels out to zero
-5s= -1575
divide both sides by -5
s= 315 students

STEP 3:
substitute s=315 in quantity equation
a + s= 560
a + 315= 560
subtract 315 from both sides
a= 245 adults

ANSWER:
Quantity Equation
a + s= 560

Cost Equation
$8a + $3s= $2905

Hope this helps! :)

Write the equation of a line in POINT-SLOPE
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

y - 2 = 1/2(x - 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we need to write the given information in point-slope form.

Point-slope form: y - y1 = m(x - x1)

We know that our slope is 1/2

We are also given a coordinate: (3, 2)

Plug in the information to its correct spot in the equation:

y - 2 = 1/2(x - 3)

Your point-slope form would be: y - 2 = 1/2(x - 3)

A 16-cup container of laundry detergent costs $13.60. What is the price per quart?
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

$0.21

Step-by-step explanation:

So, first let's find the cost of a single cup.

16/13.60 = 1/0.85

Now, we know that each cup is approximately $0.85. Next, we must convert cups into quarts. 1 cup = 0.25 quarts.

1/0.85 = 0.25/0.21

In ΔXYZ, x = 71 cm, y = 91 cm and z=71 cm. Find the area of ΔXYZ to the nearest square centimeter.
anyanavicka [17]

since its an isoscelies trangle, they probably wanted you to do base times height

make a 71-91/2-x x triangle

where x is the height of the triangle to the base 91 and 71 is the hypothenuse

and then do bh/2

or

use heron's formula

s= 71+91/2

area= \sqrt{(71+91/2)(71+91/2-71)(71+91/2-71)(71+91/2-91)}

have fun solving that
