The box office took in a total of $2905 in paid admissions for the high-school musical. Adult tickets cost $8 each, and student

tickets cost $3 each. If 560 people attended the show, how many were students? Let s = the number of students attending, and let a = the number of adults attending. Which two equations can be used to solve this problem? Select the two that apply.

There are no equations to choose from but it should look like the following.

a= # of adult tickets
s= # of student tickets

QUANTITY EQUATION
a + s= 560

COST EQUATION
$8a + $3s= $2905

***If you have to also solve for the number of adults and students, here are the steps.

STEP 1:
multiply quantity equation by -8

-8(a + s)= -8(560)
-8a - 8s= -4480

STEP 2:
add cost equation and step 1 equation

$8a + $3s= $2905
-8a - 8s= -4480
a term cancels out to zero
-5s= -1575
divide both sides by -5
s= 315 students

STEP 3:
substitute s=315 in quantity equation
a + s= 560
a + 315= 560
subtract 315 from both sides
a= 245 adults

ANSWER:
Quantity Equation
a + s= 560

Cost Equation
$8a + $3s= $2905

Hope this helps! :)

In a ten pin bowling the highest possible score in a single game is 300. At one point in the season, John had an average score o
Sindrei [870]

Answer:

John need to get 293 in his next game to bring his average up to 183.

Step-by-step explanation:

John starts with N games played and averaging 177 points per game.

In game N+1, John scored 199 points.

\frac{177N + 199}{N+1}=178\\177N+199=178N+178\\N=21\\

So, John has now played (N+1) = 22 games.

We need to know what score John needs in game 23 to bring his average to 183.

\frac{177*21 + 199+Y}{23}=183\\3916+Y=4209\\Y=293\\

Which set is a function?
Sonja [21]
B, short explanation remember the sets are set up like (x,y) in a set there should be no matching x points so if it matches it's not a function :)

long explanation: these are (x,y) sets {(0,3), (3,0), (0,4), (4,0)} the first choice shows that there are two X solutions <span>if they are equal to 0 (0,3) (0,4) so this cant be a function.

second choice</span><span> {(0,2), (2,0), (4,6), (6,4)} does not have two X solutions so this is a function
third choice</span>{(2,6), (3,6), (4,6), (2,0)} has two X solutions if x is equal to 2
and the last choice <span>{(6,2), (2,0), (4,6), (6,4)} has two X solutions if x is equal to 6
hope i helped! if i did please give me brainlest :)
