Considering the ATP cycle, which of the following would have the most potential energy to perform work for cell activities? A. A
Mumz [18]

Answer:

ATP

Explanation:

We are well aware of the fact that ATP is considered to be the energy currency of the cell. If we talk about cell activities it needs an energy input. No doubt that H+ ions play an important role in electron transport chain step of the production of ATP, but the ultimate product which is used by the cell is ATP.

AMP and ADP are also energy sources but they contain less amount of energy as compared to ADP because in ATP there are three phosphate bonds and each bond upon breakage releases almost 7.3 kj/mol of energy. So it definitely will be more in ATP as compared to ADP and AMP.

What will happen to the balls velocity as it falls further below the point of release?
RideAnS [48]

Answer: The ball's velocity will increase

When a ball falls below the point of releasing its velocity increases. The falling of the ball is controlled by the two forces, the drag force and acceleration due to gravity. The acceleration due to gravity accelerates the ball in the downward direction at the constant rate. The drag force slows the ball when it falls below and it is a function of velocity so when the velocity of the ball increases so the drag force also increases.

Should existing structures build from CCA-treated wood be removed? Which argument did you find most convincing?
alexandr402 [8]
CCA stands for chromated copper arsenic. CCA is a wood preservative, which is in use since 1930. copper is the protective structure and arsenic is the insecticide used. Arsenic serves no purpose in protecting the timber, but it is the binding agent of other 2 chemcals. The best argument in terms of science would be , not to remove CCA- treated wood from the existing building structure. this wood preservative was banned due pressure from common and not scientific reason. The concern was on arsenic exposure. The exposure level of arsenic from the treated wood is far below fatal levels , than it could be seen in diet and drinking water. Hence doesn't harm children. A research also shows that after 45 years of treatment the exposure level is almost nil. Hence it is safe to have a CCA treated woods at home.

35. Which statement best describes the cell membrane of a living plant cell?
Firdavs [7]

Answer:

The cell membrane of a living plant cell selectively regulates the passage of substances into and out of the cell (option A).

Explanation:

The plasma membrane in a living plant cell is composed of a double lipid layer that gives it hydrophobic character and acts as a semi-permeable barrier. The partial permeability of the substances allows regulating the passage of substances from and to the interior of the cell.

At the level of the plasma membrane there are several mechanisms and transport to allow the entry of substances needed for the cell or the output of synthesized products or metabolic waste, thus regulating the passage of substance in a selective way.

Regarding the other options:

     B. Plasma membranes are composed of lipids, not just carbohydrates and proteins.

     C. Permeability is not for all substances, but is selective.

     D. Plasma membrane is a lipid bilayer, not a double layer of proteins.
