Hypotenuse^2 = leg1^2 + leg2^2
3^2 = 2^2 + leg2^2
leg2^2 = 3^2 -2^2
leg2^2 =9 -4
leg2^2 = 5
leg2 = square root (5)

For this case, the first thing we should do is use the Pythagorean theorem.
 We have then:
 c ^ 2 = a ^ 2 + b ^ 2

 Where,
 a, b: sides of the rectangle triangle
 c: hypotenuse
 Substituting values we have:
 3 ^ 2 = 2 ^ 2 + b ^ 2

 Clearing b we have:
 b ^ 2 = 3 ^ 2 - 2 ^ 2

 b = \sqrt{3^2 - 2^2}
 b = \sqrt{9-4}
 b = \sqrt{5}
 Answer:
 The length, in units of the other leg of the triangle is:
 b =  \sqrt{5}

The table shows how an elevator 500 feet above the ground is descending at a steady rate.
lapo4ka [179]

Answer:

h(t) = -5t + 500

Step-by-step explanation:

At time zero, the elevator is at 500 ft.

At time 5 seconds, the elevator is at 475 ft.

The difference in height is -25 ft.

The elevator traveled -25 ft (25 ft down) in 5 seconds, so it travels at a speed of 5 ft per second. Since it is traveling down, its speed is -5 ft/sec.

For each second of travel, it loses 5 ft of height.

h(t) = -5t + 500

1. A sine function has the following key features
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

1) y= 2sin(\frac{1}{2}x) + 2

2) y= 3sin(\frac{\pi}{2}x)-1

3) y= 2sin(2x) -2

Step-by-step explanation:

General form of sin function is

y= Asin(Bx) + C

Where A is Amplitude

B is \frac{2\pi}{\text{Period}}

C is Mid line

1) Given : A sine function has the following key features

Frequency = \frac{1}{4\pi}

Period is P=\frac{1}{f}=\frac{1}{\frac{1}{4\pi}}=4\pi

Amplitude= 2

Mid line y= 2

Y intercept (0,2)

This function is NOT a reflection of its parent function of the x-axis

Solution : We put the value in the general form of sin function

A= 2 ,  B=\frac{2\pi}{4\pi}=\frac{1}{2} , C=2

y= Asin(Bx) + C

y= 2sin(\frac{1}{2}x) + 2

2) Given : A sine function has the following key features

Period = 4

Amplitude = 3

Mid line y = -1

Y intercept (0,-1)

Solution : We put the value in the general form of sin function

A= 3 ,  B=\frac{2\pi}{4}=\frac{\pi}{2} , C=-1

y= Asin(Bx) + C

y= 3sin(\frac{\pi}{2}x)-1

3) Given : A sine function has the following key features

Period = \pi

Amplitude = 2

Mid line y = -12

Y intercept (0,-2)

Solution : We put the value in the general form of sin function

A= 2 ,  B=\frac{2\pi}{\pi}=2 , C=-2

y= Asin(Bx) + C

y= 2sin(2x) -2
