A. This is a function because there is one x value for every y value. Basically, that means every x is different, there are no repeating x's. A function can have repeating y values, just not the x ones.

B.
table : when x = 4...u already have that point (4,9)...so this value is 9.

relation :
f(x) = 2x - 8...when x = 4
f(4) = 2(4) - 8
f(4) = 8 - 8
f(4) = 0

so the greater values goes to the table....with a value of 9 <==

C. f(x) = 34

f(x) = 2x - 8
34 = 2x - 8
34 + 8 = 2x
42 = 2x
21 = x <==

A restaurant sold 8 times as many salads as they sold steaks. if they sold 4 steaks, how many salads did they sell?
Mnenie [13.5K]
32. For every one salad it was 8 steaks, so if they sold 4 steaks, just multiply 4 by 8, where 8 represents the number of salads for every steak. The answer would be 32. Correct me if I'm wrong but that my answer.

The triangles are similar
hoa [83]

Answer:

Part 1) x=16\ units

Part 2) x=23\ units

Part 3) AE=20\ units

Part 4) x= 6.25\ units

Part 5) x=26.67\ in

Step-by-step explanation:

Part 1) we know that

If two triangles are similar

then

the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal

so

In this problem

\frac{12}{3}=\frac{x}{4}\\\\3x=12*4\\ \\x=48/3\\ \\x=16\ units

Part 2) we know that

If two triangles are similar

then

the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal

so

In this problem

\frac{36}{12}=\frac{39}{(x-10)}\\\\3(x-10)=39\\ \\x=(39/3)+10\\ \\x=23\ units

Part 3) we know that

If two triangles are similar

then

the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal

so

In this problem

\frac{AB}{CD}=\frac{AE}{ED}

substitute the values

\frac{10}{4}=\frac{2x+10}{x+3}

2.5(x+3)=2x+10

2.5x+7.5=2x+10

2.5x-2x=10-7.5

0.5x=2.5

x=5\ units

AE=2x+10=2*5+10=20\ units

Part 4) we know that

If two triangles are similar

then

the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal

so

In this problem

\frac{4}{5}=\frac{5}{x}\\ \\4x=5*5\\ \\ x=25/4\\ \\ x= 6.25\ units

Part 5) we know that

If two triangles are similar

then

the ratio of their corresponding sides are equal

so

In this problem

\frac{30}{x}=\frac{45}{40}\\ \\45x=30*40\\ \\x=1,200/45\\ \\ x=26.67\ in

What is the math term for you taking parentheses away?
TEA [102]

You might be thinking of "distribution" or "distributive property"

Example:

2(3x+5) = 2*3x+2*5 = 6x+10

I multiplied the outer 2 by each term inside (3x and 5)
